GET OUT OF SYDNEY! - Dolphins at Jervis Bay

GET OUT OF SYDNEY! - Dolphins at Jervis Bay

GET OUT OF SYDNEY! - Dolphins at Jervis Bay At Travel Wheels we love dolphins! Our suggestion for your first trip out of Sydney would be south alone the pacific coastal road to beautiful Jervis Bay.

You will be delighted and also excited to know that Jervis Bay has a resident pod of 80 playful dolphins that live in the Bay! If this isn't enough, how about several mobs of friendly wild kangaroos, penguins, whales, and of course some famous beaches to make a brilliant day or days out in this area!

Jervis Bay Imagine the following, crystal clear waters for kilometres, a local beach with the whitest sands in the world (Guinness Book of Records), another one in which kangaroos often come down to sun themselves on the beach front.

In addition to this, Jervis Bay is fast becoming the whale watching capital of NSW, and is now getting ready to challenge Hervey Bay as the premier place in Australia to watch whales.

From Jervis Bay to Sydney You can quickly see why Jervis Bay is such a fantastic location for a daytrip from Sydney or for spending a couple of leisurely days relaxing in the unspoilt scenery, wonderful national parks, and experiencing the incredible wildlife from Dolphins to Whales and beyond!

HUSKINSON

HUSKINSON

Nearby is HUSKINSON - which is situated on the western shore of Jervis Bay and it is a fantastic area for scuba-diving with crystal clear calm waters and of course the inquisitive wildlife in the sea!

This is the second most popular dive spot in Australia after the Great Barrier Reef!

BOODEREE

Great Barrier Reef

BOODEREE NATIONAL PARK - Fancy visiting a national park with rugged cliffs facing the sea? Well then pay Booderee National Park a visit for fantastic white sandy beaches, and crystal clear waters.

There are lots of free things to do such as snorkelling in the park and you might even see some of the famous marine life such as Sting Rays, Dolphins and there is even a Penguin Colony near Bowen Island.

THE WHITEST SAND IN THE WORLD

Hyams Beach - THE WHITEST SAND IN THE WORLD

FANCY VISITING THE BEACH WITH THE WHITEST SAND IN THE WORLD? - Hyams Beach is in the Guinness Book of Records as having the whitest sand in the world and the astonishing fact that the bay is at least six times bigger in volume and four times bigger in area than Sydney Harbour!

The Jervis Bay area has universal appeal to people who love animals and marine life, scuba-divers, surfers, anglers, cyclists and those of you who enjoy walking in the bush. It does boast so many fantastic places of beauty that you will be spoilt for choice - and yet it is so close to Sydney!

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Here is a suggested itinerary you might like to follow using one of Travel Wheelsgreat value campervans or station wagons.

You can do this in a day, but why rush, you're on holiday, so why not take two or five days and enjoy the beauty of Jervis Bay with Travel Wheels.

  • Leave Sydney early as it's going to be a fun filled day and you will miss the morning traffic as you leisurely drive south along the pacific coastline.
  • The first point of Interest you will want to explore is Botany Bay and the Royal National Park. Why not jump out of the car (instead of whizzing past) and take a walk and admire the views and the sheer beauty right on the doorstep of Sydney.
  • Further down the coast you will pass the Nan Tien Temple (also known as "Southern Paradise" which is the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere )
  • How about making a detour and stopping at the Kiama Blowhole? - it was discovered over 100 years by George Bass when he anchored his whale boat in Kiama harbour back in December 1797. Over 700, 000 people visit the blow hole every year, why not stop off yourself and see if you can get wet seeing the blowhole erupting high up into the sky!
  • Hungry, or thirsty? A great place to stop for mid morning tea is in the historic town called Berry, which is known as the 'town of trees'. It is set amongst rolling green hills with the backdrop of the stunning Cambewarra range. Berry is famous for its cafes, antiques and boutique shopping, and is a great place to stop for an hour or four and chill out before all the excitement begins!
  • The next stop is the jewel in the crown, Jervis Bay. This is when the fun begins and your chance to see the dolphins and the beautiful beaches up close. Dolphin watch tours start from approximately $20 for a two hour boat trip on the calm crystal waters of Jervis Bay. Make sure you bring your camera or video camera to film those playful dolphins as nature intended.
  • After your boat tour, you have a number of options, if time is tight, then head back to Sydney. If not then why not take the scenic route back and drive through the lush Cambewarra Mountains and explore Kangaroo Valley on your way back to Sydney.
  • From here the best thing to do is to take your time, relax and slowly climb up to the Southern Highlands. Why not stop for a picnic or a cool drink at Fitzroy Falls where the water plunges eighty metres off the cliffs into a lust rainforest with panoramic views.

COMING BACK TO SYDNEY

Then it's time to jump back into your Travel Wheels campervan and it's a relaxing drive back to Sydney with a day full of memories behind you and plenty of smiles to keep you going on your way back home.
